Characters

Click here for an alphabetical list of all the characters that have corresponding pages.

Characters from the overarching story

  • Eluviel Harsada
  • Eluvelon
  • Virgil, a Cambion searching for Eluviel Harsada
  • Simeon Ibn Seif and his alter ego Simone Facouri
  • Nargyle, a magic using Elf who was instrumental in convincing the Kharkhorin king to attack Rosaria 50 years ago. His stated purpose as headmaster of the only magical academy in the world was the Elvish reclamation of the lands where the portal to the Fey Wild is situated, with some economic benefits thrown in, since Rosaria is the more fertile zone of the Hammerhead. Gladiola Faraday shared a speculation from the Weavers (the anti-war coalition helping magic users avoid prince Mordecai's conscription) that he might have been a paid instigator, though it's unclear who'd benefit... Gladiola's grandfather felt the rumour was credible, because this Nargyle wasn't headmaster when grandfather Faraday attended the school, nor was Nargyle a known candidate to become headmaster

Characters from arc 3

Potential encounters in The Vale (we haven't met these people yet)

  • Pandolf and Lucerne, Mi'Kal's parents
  • Aashvi Saree
  • Santiago, a.k.a. Foxglove
  • Ishmael Ghorann's children, whose father was a court wizard in the Vale before he was exiled for an unspecified reason. Lutiel (Yaruda's arch druid) knows the shop they keep in The Vale
  • random sea elves in The Vale, who might know about the King of Storms (according to The Gilded Blade)

Potential encounters beyond The Vale (we haven't met these people yet)

  • a woman Eluvelon warned us about: she fell into the clutches of Lunaire's vengeance (much further than El). She's also hunting the Wandering Isle, and Eluvelon hopes we'll try to show her forgiveness, much more than she has shown us. In session 39, Virgil confirmed she's armed with a sword similar to El's sword
  • Gwyleth Paltrow, a fabled weapons smith working near The Lake of the Mother and Child , who might be able to repair El's sword, provided we have enough voidstones to power its magic
  • rumours of a mysterious tall people living in hiding on the peaks of The Spine
  • reputable mushroom farmers
  • a drow colony deep in the Spine, weaving spider silk in worship to Clíodhna

Characters from arc 2

in The Vale, where The Wandering Isle suddenly appeared

  • Troyen Rilke, a human woman who became The Vale's youngest guild master ever, after she betrayed her family in The Gilded Blade as soon as the Rosarian military started conscripting ships. The Gilded Blade isn't happy about this & hired Simeon to intimidate and kill her
  • Feynmann, a deep gnome who works outside of the mine as Rilke's right hand person
  • Beckett, The Vale's surgeon who founded the non-magical clinic and Mary, who runs the clinic's reception with an iron fist in a silk glove
  • Lucerne (The Vale's best mushroom cook) and Pandolf (an Eladrin history teacher), Mi'kal's parents
  • Wendy, the owner and bartender of The Iron Oar Inn, where apparently we've slept before, even though we don't remember it

in The Grove, where the Elder Dryad guards Taurillon's portal between the Fey Wild and the mortal plane

  • Lutiel, a 650 year old druid in service of Taurillon, who can wild-shape into a harpy eagle, whose name means Lover of a Tree. He can cast a magical totem in the shape of bear statue. His name portended his centuries long love affair with the Elder Dryad
  • Cedar the satyr and Daisy the pixie †, formerly from the Dawning Courts in the Fey Wild (see "characters from our backstories") and currently warlocks bound to Czernobog, the devil toad (see below)
  • Louis the barghest, a wolf-like monster with a human face, one of Virgil's lieutenants. Fyllion gave him his name
  • Czernobog the devil toad †, aka Bog the frog, one of Virgil's lieutenants who creates zombies after he drinks them dry of their life force
  • Fake-Bog, a quasit serving as Czernobog's familiar
  • Lusídhe, a dryad who, for centuries, has guarded the Grove's portal in service of Taurillon. Her name means Loving an Elf, referring to her love affair/marriage to Lutiel
  • Saylara, another dryad of the Grove, who takes on the role of Elder Dryad after Lusídhe's passing. She's newly crowned with Taurillon's blessing, and as the withering of Sangrün's vines removes the blockade between Breheima and Rosaria, she'll soon open the portal to the Fey Wild again

In Yaruda

Only empty druid huts with names of the druids and their familiars: Teagan with Johnnie the bear, Dolwin and Lutile the otter, Mobay and Frauki the wolf

In the Sandveld between Damanhour and Yaruda

  • Sahir, a human man in his forties, in colourful robes & with dramatic kohl eyeliner, with decorative rather than practical weapons. He poses as a travelling merchant and he plays the sitar (session 23)
  • Satine, a human woman in her twenties, travelling with Sahir, in similar robes and kohl and with similar weapons. Along with Sahir she poses as a travelling merchant with specialty luxury goods on their camel, like raw silk from the drow colony deep in The Spine who worship Clíodhna (session 23)
  • a tiny messenger bird, a familiar of one of the guild members
  • the guild the Gilded Blade (not a merchant guild but a group of dry bandits, troubled by the blockade limiting travel between Breheima and Rosaria, as well as by prince Mordecai's war preparations): a handful of bandits and their familiars, a lion and a lioness, a giant scorpion, a bearded vulture and a hawk

in Damanhour

  • captain Hasan from the Thamyrian army, leading a 3-person unit searching for Aashvi and Santiago in the area around Damanhour
  • Sharm and her husband Mohsine, hospitable villagers (in the absence of a proper inn)
  • Saumi (the mayor and steward of the Lunaire temple) and his wife Hasjra
  • Ridwan, the shopkeeper, possibly Reva Mehrabi's father (given the similarities between their eyes)

Characters from arc 1

From Nawa

  • Enza
  • old man Hamza, Enza's neighbours Meyrem and Soufiane with their son Stiva, 5 kids, 16 prisoners including a brave girl and a young half-orc man, one man sacrified as we watched

In Saltmarsh where The Young Kraken confronted the greedy captain Barney Morgan aboard his ship The Tesla 10 years ago

  • Oceanus, a sea elf sent by the authorities in Saltmarsh to check on illegal weapon trade with lizard folk
  • 3 lizard folk

The crew of the Young Kraken

The ship The Young Kraken and her pirates' code

The Young Kraken has a better reputation than most pirate vessels, and for good reason. Mainly because Captain Magpie is often merciful, teaching his crew the same attitude. Sometimes we even let go of a prize because we didn’t want to resort to violence towards people that didn’t really deserve it.

Captain Magpie's guiding principles encourages us to develop and follow the Young Kraken's Pirate Code.

  • Aashvi Saree, the matriarch who left Kharkhorin & brought fashion prominence to the Saree name with her fashion creations. Ezra was unaware Aashvi is linked to the organization of magic users "The Weavers" who (treasonously) resist prince Mordecai conscripting the magic users for his renewal of the war with Kharkhorin

  • Meera, the eldest sister who designs elegant and classic outfits
  • Saumya, the second sister whose work is impressive and timeless

The human court in Royal Rosaria

For the past century, the human Rosarian royal family has ruled over the Hammerhead Coast (from the southern coasts of the White Sea around Crescent Cove up north to Thalm Sashari in the south... and from the western coasts of the Chelmian Sea (stretching from the Bay of Beasts to Dhara) in the east all the way to Lindenvale and The Basket in the west).

  • King Aalder, founder of the dynasty who replaced the Elven rulers as part of a larger migratory event and/or population shift
  • King Aldrich Aalderman died during the Battle of the Bay of Beasts, 50 years ago where Eluviel rose to prominence and when captain John Magpie was a random member of the Rosarian Navy
  • King Balthazar Aalderman died recently after reigning from his 14th to his 64th. A just and fair leader, but phlegmatic and withdrawn in nature, lacking some of the passion and charisma that had characterised his father. Lover of the arts
  • Crown prince Mordecai Aalderman (39), oldest son and soon to be crowned as new king of Rosaria. A respected swordsman. Known in his youth for his bold and sanguine personality, and for being quite handsome
  • Princess Lydia Aalderman (34), good natured and popular with the people for her generosity and her frequent public appearances. As patron of the arts (like her father) she encouraged a more personal friendship with Storm
  • Prince Elwyn Aalderman (28), half of a twin. Cool, distant and a bit snobbish, like his father

  • Nathaniel, a wise older cleric of Soliman: king Balthazar’s personal advisor for over 35 years
  • Varian, Nathaniel’s youngest son, of princess Lydia’s age, sort of aimless in life, might become a paladin like prince Mordecai and his dad Nathaniel, enjoys princess Lydia’s company and appreciates the arts like she does
  • The small-council of elected representatives
The Aes Sídhe of the Dawning Courts in the Fey Wild

At the Summer Court

  • Titania (Tiandra): queen of the fairies, ruler of all spring and summer fey
  • Oberon (Oran): the green lord, consort of the spring court, lord of beasts
  • Grian (Áine): the midsummer sun, lady of wealth and sovereignty
  • Ifykon the satyr, Fyllion's manny (male nanny) and mentor these past 28 years in their hiding place in the mortal plane, the Blackwoods to the north of Soliman's holy city Lharsam, where Fyllion maintained his own portal between the mortal plane and the Fey Wild

At the Spring Court

  • Damh: son of Oberon and Titania, lord of revelry and song, patron of satyrs and korreds

The royal House in the Sea of Storms
  • Hanaïn, King of Storms and his queen, Aqueel's parents
  • Hanaïn's brother Astarian: an embarrassment to the King of Storms, because he prefers wandering & coming home, rather than venturing into the world to conquer his own kingdom as Marids are wont to do. Possibly during one of his travels, he fathered Hali...?
  • Aqueel's siblings, both brothers and sisters, are all pretty mean and ambitious. They're a lot older than Aqueel & don't have much contact with him
  • Aqueel, inadvertently kidnapped by the Wandering Isle & left behind in Koh'Shar
