Religion
A prominent religion along the Hammerhead Coast, particularly in Breheima, is Solunism: the dualistic worship of the gods of Sun and Darkness. Both are neutral in alignment and embody a multitude of concepts both good and bad – coming together to form a delicate balance.
Gods
Soliman
Chaotic neutral god of the sun, light, growth and divine magic – but also of fire and of punishment. Known for a passionate, fiery temperament and a tendency to be both unwavering and unforgiving. Grants their followers the power to heal, buff, and smite evil.
Lunaire
Lawful neutral god of darkness, cold, the void, and arcane magic – but also of cool starlight, refreshment, rest and recovery. Known for a phlegmatic, distant temperament and a tendency to hold grudges. Grants their followers powers of protection and control.
Worshipping
Soliman and Lunaire are worshipped more actively in the southern half of the continent, where they remain the dominant institution. The northern half has been in contact with many more cultures throughout their history, causing worship of multiple different pantheons to take root. Nevertheless, even in the north the two are at least recognized by most, as they are quite ‘hands-on’ and will often make their presence known through celestial envoys.
Although the gods are usually worshipped as a pair by commonfolk, followers higher up in the ranks – such as clerics or religious leaders – tend to focus on one over the other in order to gain favour with either party, such as divine/arcane power or the personal protection of a deva. Tensions between Solunist sects can run high on occasions, as do tensions between the gods themselves.
